All in a days work

Well this is the pincushion.  I am a little chuffed about finally finishing this.
Thinking I should put a little check list on the side of this blog jsut to keep reminding me of how many projects I actually finish during a month at a time.
Loving the pretty colours, so not usually me.

Hexagons, something I have wanted to try.......

A while ago I purchased a charm pack from Carolyn's to make a pin cushion.
I seem to be on a mission this week to get a lot of UFO's completed.  I am trying to get as much done as I possibly can before the Christmas rush starts up at work.

I have always wanted to play around with hexagons, and this was the perfect project with which to do just that.

All things going to plan I should have a completed photo to show you by the end of the day.
You can find the pattern for this pincushion right here.
It is a perfect day for a little sewing, dont you think?

Firday Night Sew In

Last Friday night I participated in a Friday Night Sew In and though I admit I did not start a 'new' project but I did finish a UFO that has been in my sewing room for over a year now.  So I can not complain about that.
Do not get me wrong, I LOVE starting new things, but there does come a time when I really have to get some done and dusted, so to speak.
So this one is now waiting to be handing over to the lovely Pat for her machine quilting skills.

Heart and Home

This pattern by Suzanne McNeill is a great quilt to use up your stash. I have a jelly roll of 'crazy 8' fabric from Moda. I wanted to use this in a wall quilt for our home at Christmas time but I wanted something different to a 'Christmas' quilt.
This quilt is just what I have been looking for.

The beginnings of a pin cushion

I picked up a kit a few months ago to make a pin cushion out of hexagons. I never saw myself making a hexagon quilt but I wanted to learn the technique. Perfect solution = a pincushion. I also ventured away from my usual colour schemes and went shabby chic...... I'm liking it :)

3 People passed on to be with God this week, all of them taken way to soon for their friends and their families.
I pray that everyone close to them finds peace and understanding at this time.
May their memories be in our hearts forever and may they now dance and sing with the angels with no more pain.
RIP - Owen (aged 42), Saba, and Olivia (aged 8).

It's nearly time.
I tossed and turned about what I was going to make tonight.
I selected the charm pack I wanted to work with.
In the end I have decided to finish a UFO, its a variation on 9 patch that I just need to finish.
Boring, probably, as in Im not starting a new project.
BUT if you could see the list of UFO's you would totally understand why this is a sensible decision.
Progress photos will be posted at regular intervals during the night.
Let's just see how far I get before I hit the wall......

This is a great way to spend a Friday night...you should give it a go sometime.

Keep those stitches coming,
Michele

Pre-Cut Party

What are you doing this Friday night?
I noticed on De's blog that Sarah is running a Pre-Cut Party.
There are times when it is just hard to get out of the house to meet up with women to do some sewing.   I love this idea of using technology to move along my sewing mojo.  I will be at home Friday night sewing up a storm knowing that others will be doing the same and I can not wait to share my project when it's done.
I have a charm pack that I have had for ages sitting there just waiting to be turned into a fantastic piece of art with my little hands and sewing machine.
The pack is from Moda and it's called Arnold's Attic by Barbara Brackman. Now to go off and find a cute little project to do.
